ILOILO CITY — An intelligence officer of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) in Iloilo on Sunday received a package that contained items meant to threaten him.
The package delivered to the house of the policeman, whose identity was withheld by his superiors, contained a barong Tagalog, slacks, and a note which claimed that it came from the New People’s Army (NPA).

The PDEU-Iloilo believed the threat received by one of their intelligence officers was not from the NPA but from a high-value individual with connections to illegal drugs.
In an interview, Major Dadje Delima, head of PDEU, said the NPA might have been used to strike fear and cover up the sender’s identity.
He also denied claims that they frame up their subjects caught in drug bust operations as the letter claimed.
Delima said their intelligence officer could have been a target because of his good standing in the team.
